Create your own lithograph

EXPRESS YOUR CREATIVITY ON STONE

In our lithographic workshop, beginners and advanced lithographers can get to create their own lithos. The Dutch Museum of Lithography also regularly collaborates with Dutch and international artists: lithography is very much in demand  for making graphics in small circulation.

Our lithographic workshop is also used for creative projects, printing demonstrations and workshops stoneprinting. During one of our workshops, you can get to learn more about drawing on stone and the stoneprinting technique at entry level.

Master of lithography

Gertjan Forrer is regarded as the last master stoneprinter in the Netherlands.

He has acquired expertise during five decades as a printer  for artists in various graphic studios and printing firms. This knowledge and expertise  is of vital importance for the preservation of this graphic craftsmanship. In 2024 Maartje van Eck is appointed as apprentice. She will be trained by Gertjan Forrer to become the next master in lithographic printing.

“It is great to get the freedom and the trust to work under the guidance of masterprinters for such a special technique as lithography. As a creative, it brings you in the position to go beyond the trodden paths and work out for yourself where the key principles of your work lie.”
