Vincent van Gogh made a lithograph prior to the final version of the later famous painting “The Potato Eaters” that would become his first real masterpiece.
As part of the exhibition “Vincent van Gogh as a graphic artist” the Dutch Museum of Lithography has reprinted this lithograph in collaboration with master printer Gertjan Forrer, from a lithographic stone in small series on an authentic lithographic press from the artist’s time. Meticulously, all the operations that were necessary for this lithograph have been redone.
The lithograph is offered in a small, numbered series, including a DVD in Dutch and English about Van Gogh’s graphic oeuvre, and the story behind the history of this lithograph. Texts in Dutch, French, German, English, Chinese and Japanese are included on the back.
