Successful opening expo ‘Leonetto Cappiello: always something quirky’

01 June 2024

We look back on a festive opening of the exhibition Leonetto Cappiello: always something quirky in the Dutch Museum of Lithography. The evening was characterized by a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere, where people came to enjoy the work of this pioneering Italian artist. The exhibition was festively opened by grandson Pierre Cappiello and councilor Bram Bots. They raised a glass with all the guests to the exhibition and work of Leonetto Cappiello.

The exhibition is on view from now until November 10, 2024. Don’t miss this opportunity to be immersed in the world of one of the most influential artists of his time. Visit us and discover the magic of Cappiello’s masterpieces.

The Italian artist Leonetto Cappiello (1875-1942) is one of the most important international poster designers and is generally known as ‘the father of modern advertising’. The exhibition shows – for the first time in the Netherlands – an extensive overview of the special caricatures and powerful posters that the artist made. In addition to the iconic works Nos Actrices (1899), Chocolat Klaus (1903), Campari l’apéritif (ca. 1921) and Kub / Bouillon (1931), the sketches, pastel drawings and gouaches that Cappiello made in preparation for his works in the exhibition to see.
